The 146 Point Flame

In January 2022, we will present our One Act Play competition piece, The 146 Point Flame by Matt Thompson. Based on the historic 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York City, the show tells the stories of four young women who perished in the fire. An Italian immigrant, Vincenza, shares her last night on Earth with romance, smiles and dancing. Tessa celebrates her life with a story about her brother and mother. Sisters Lena and Yetta meditate on the strength and endurance of moving from Russia to America and the parallels of moving from life to the afterlife. Touching and poetic, this piece illuminates the definition of human courage. The public performance of the show will be Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 7 pm.

Touching and poetic, this piece illuminates the definition of human courage.

Featuring the acting talents of Chelsea Pierick, Natalie Knutson, Johanna Herfindahl-Quint, Hannah Olson, Taylor Godbout, Addie Fosland, Mckenzie Holz, Evy Lindstrom, Ian Kujath, Kaiden Beliveau, Cullen Santjer, Bella Fields, and Brooklyn Reding, and the technical talents of Abby Barnum, Callia Fosland, Kaylene Patschke, and David Oolman, directed by Mel Ferris with technical direction by Cody Rysavy, and costumes by Ingvild Herfindahl.

This moving show highlights an incredibly important and often overlooked event in American history that led to many fire and building code changes and advances in workplace protection, and highlighted the struggles faced by low wage factory workers in America.

(We would like to point out that the show is about the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire, which was the worst industrial disaster in American history prior to 9-11-2001, and may not be suitable for all audiences.)
